If we talk about a product that took the market by storm for a short period of time, that’s CBD.

Cannabidiol is the product of the moment and there is no question about it. You can find these products online, at shopping centers, at beauty and wellness centers, etc. Everyone who suffers from anxiety, stress, pain, and many other health issues wants to try and get their hands on some CBD products.

That’s because of the wide range of beneficial properties CBD contains.Still, the feedback coming from users focuses only on the benefits of CBD and possible side effects which are rare and only happen if CBD is taken with other medications or is misused.

For that reason we will step back a little bit and answer for you two main questions about CBD:

1. What is CBD?

2. Where does CBD come from?

We made this kind of structure in order to prepare you to continue reading about other stuff related to CBD. Before trying to get more information about benefits and use-cases of CBD, is important to know what CBD is and where does it come from.

What is CBD?

First things first, CBD is an active compound of cannabis Sativa plants. Sativa plants are known for the presence of THC in them. THC which is short for tetrahydrocannabinol is very different from CBD which is short for cannabidiol. While THC has psychoactive effects, thus causin addiction to users, CBD is not psychoactive and does not cause addiction. Instead, CBD provides many positive elements, which many people can benefit from.

And not only people but also animals or your loved pets. So, the psychoactive effect is the main difference from THC which is the most famous compound on cannabis and CBD which is the most beneficial compound of all cannabinoids found until now.

This is also the reason why CBD’s popularity isgrowing quickly. The therapeutical potential of CBD is significant and is also an important option to take into consideration on helping people fight their health disorders.

Where does CBD come from?

This should be the second most important question to be answered. There is a big chance that you have heard the terms marijuana, cannabis, and hemp all together without explaining the differences. The thing is that all these terms are used around in relation to CBD, but they are different. Cannabis itself is divided into three main groups which are: Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica, and Cannabis Ruderalis. These groups are different in the appearance, in cultivation and usage.

Because we are talking about CBD, our main focus is in the Cannabis Sativa family. Sativa group contains Marijuana and Hemp as their strains or varieties which contain CBD. Hemp contains more CBD than Marijuana, while Marijuana contains more THC.

THC causes addiction, thus making Marijuana illegal. On the other hand, hemp which contains less than 0.3% THC is legal by federal law and people are free to grow or sell it under these regulations.

In conclusion, is important to state that the best way to obtain CBD is from hemp, because hemp may contain up to 20% CBD.
